Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

A UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) is an electrical device that provides backup power to critical equipment or systems in the event of a power outage or voltage fluctuations. It ensures uninterrupted power supply, allowing devices to continue running smoothly and preventing data loss or damage. There are three main types of UPS systems:

1. Standby UPS: Also known as Offline UPS, it remains in standby mode until a power interruption occurs. When the power goes out, it switches to battery power to provide electricity to connected devices.

2. Line-interactive UPS: This type of UPS is slightly more advanced than a standby UPS. It incorporates an automatic voltage regulator (AVR) that adjusts the incoming voltage to compensate for minor fluctuations. It offers better protection against power sags and surges.

3. Online UPS: Considered the most advanced and reliable type, an online UPS constantly powers connected devices from its battery, while simultaneously recharging the battery from the main power source. It provides complete protection against power interruptions and offers the highest level of power conditioning.

Each type of UPS has its own advantages and is suitable for different applications based on the level of protection required and the criticality of the equipment being powered.
